I've loved this cardigan ever since it came out. So when Anthro had their 50% off promo going on this past December I saw one left in the Salt Lake City store and lucked out because it was my size! Disneyland

In December I decided to take a last minute trip to Disneyland! My sister talked me into going with her and we had a blast! Two of the days we had beautiful weather but one day we got rained out (at least the park was empty that day!). We had a great time and I can't wait to go back!

The rainy day, we were prepared with our ponchos!

Where Have I Been?

Hello dear readers! These past few months have been super busy for me. Between a last minute trip to Disneyland, Christmas with my family, helping my mom move in and decorate her new house, and a dream trip to Hawaii things have been crazy but wonderful! Hopefully my posting will now be back to normal.

So it was another sale day at Anthropologie today. Gotta love Monday night for The Bachelor and the Sale Guessing Game! I ended up calling around for this blouse and I hope that it works for me since I've never tried it on. I also scored these cute sandals for $9.95 and can't wait to get them! I've needed a new pair of red sandals since my red flats have seen better days.

Hello and happy Thursday! A few weeks ago I ordered Anthro's Stacked Strap Heels but they just didn't work out for me. So when I saw these finally hit sale on Tuesday I quickly ordered them. Crossing my fingers that I love them.

Thanksgiving Decor

Since we're one week away from Thanksgiving I wanted to share how I changed up my decor (you can see my Halloween decor here). Below, my console table has a 'Thankful Tree' (I got the idea from Pinterest). The tree was made from tree branches I found outside, some scrap paper and a mason jar I already owned. Totally free and easy project to do!

My mantel got changed up just a bit with some acorns and leaves in the jar and a cute little 'Give Thanks' sign...

As for my entertainment center, I kept my pumpkins and just removed the spiders and added leaves to make it look more harvesty. My spell-check doesn't like that last word but I'm going with it!

And those white pumpkins you see above used to look like this (I got them for $0.99 each a few years back)....

I wanted a more neutral look so I taped off the stems, spray painted them white and then sanded them down a bit so they look more rustic. Here's a closer look at one of them...

So that's it. I can't wait for Thanksgiving, I love any excuse to eat to my heart's content. :)

Another Painted Rug Reveal

First things first, how about today's sale at Anthropologie?!? I was kind of surprised to see a sale with the big Black Friday event coming up. I ordered these but I've never tried them on so we'll see how they work out when they get here.

Soooo, I'm done with my second painted rug (you can see my first one here). Here's the before and after shots for you...

This rug was so much easier - it took me about 2 1/2 hours to finish it. This project was free for me since I used leftover paint from another project, I already owned the rug, and I used an old cardboard box to make my stencil! I love the bright color that it adds to my kitchen. If any of you are thinking of painting a rug I would highly recommend it; it's such a great way to add a custom accent color to any space in your home.

And if any of you have any questions please feel free to ask, I learned a lot from my mistakes on both rugs I painted. :)

Painting Another Rug

The Painted Rug Reveal and Tutorial

It's finally done folks. After many late nights and many sore muscles I'm really happy with how it turned out. We all love a good before and after shot so here you go...

Now I know there are a lot of tutorials out there but I'll just go ahead and show you how I did mine. First I made my own stencil. I know I could have purchased one but I'm cheap so I decided to make my own. Most stencils I saw were going for around $50+ and I made mine for about $12. That and I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, which was this Moroccan tile pattern...

HOW I MADE MY OWN STENCIL

1. I got the thickest poster board I could find at Michael's craft store. It was seriously thick but I knew that it had to hold up to the paint and not fall apart.

2. Find the pattern you want and print it. I used the Moroccan tile pattern above and blew it up in Photoshop. Since my overall pattern was larger than a piece of paper I had to select areas to print and then piece and tape them together.

3. Cut out the pattern and trace it onto your poster board. Since I just needed the white part to make the stencil, I cut that out and traced it onto my poster board.

4. Cut out the pattern using an exacto knife. This part was difficult and took me awhile since the poster board was so thick. I had to cut every single cut at least 3-4 times to make it through the poster board.

And man did "my fingers hurt", I felt like the elderly lady from Happy Gilmore!

HOW I PAINTED MY RUG

First off, you can't paint just any old rug. You need something that is a natural fiber and I think sisal works best (please don't try to paint over a carpet rug, it won't work!). I got my rug from Pottery Barn a few years ago but it looks like they still sell it here. I also know that IKEA sells some pretty cheap sisal rugs called Egeby. And FYI my rug is 5' x 8'

1. Paint your rug. I wanted the rug to be gray with the white stencil so I first painted it three coats with the grey paint (I used Behr Anonymous and I used almost a gallon of paint). I used a water based semi-gloss paint since it would be easy to clean and would hold up to the foot traffic.

2. Now for the fun part. Line up your stencil and start painting with the white paint (I used Behr Ultra Pure White and I used less than a quart). Be sure to get it as straight as you can, you don't want a crooked pattern! I used one of those small edge rollers and just rolled over the stencil. I found that by not pressing too hard was the way to go, otherwise it just bled everywhere and didn't give me a smooth edge. Keep in mind that this just gave me a rough outline of the pattern.

3. Once I had my entire rug stenciled with the rough outline I had to go back and "fill in" the stencil with the white paint. I basically had to hand paint it with a small craft brush. Even though this was very time consuming it was the only way to get the results that I wanted.

4. Then I went back and cleaned up the edges again with the grey paint. I had a lot of spots where the white paint bled too far into the grey that I had to touch up. Again, time consuming but the result was well worth the effort. And anyone who knows me knows that I'm a huge perfectionist so I kind of enjoy doing tedious tasks like this! :)

5. Lastly, I sprayed a coat of clear gloss protective finish over the entire rug. I wanted to give it some sort of a protective coat.

So that's it! Again, it took a lot of time but I'm so pleased with how it turned out! Would I do it again? Absolutely! In fact, I have a smaller 3' x 5' rug from IKEA that I want to paint for my kitchen!

Total cost was $125. The rug was $80 (which I bought 4+ years ago) and the paint and supplies were about $45. A steal if you ask me! Total time this project took was about 18 hours, don't attempt this project unless you are super patient and willing to put in the time and effort!

OOTD: Frilled Echelons Goes to the Pumpkin Patch

I was surprised and happy to see a sale today at Anthropologie. I have this on hold for me at my local store, we'll see if it comes home with me or not. It's been on my wishlist for awhile now but I want to try it on again.

So this past Saturday we went to the Pumpkin Patch and had so much fun! I thought it was the perfect opportunity to wear my new Frilled Echelons Peacoat. I had to wear my rainboots since it can get muddy out there!

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I sure did. My family and I visited the Pumpkin Patch and had lots of yummy food, a bumpy hay ride, we got to see all the farm animals, and pick out our pumpkin! I just love this time of year.

So as you'll notice from my pic I'm not in my usual spot. Well that's because I'm still painting my rug so my usual spot is a disaster area! This rug was more work than I had planned for but isn't that how most DIY projects turn out?!? Hopefully it will be done soon, I think I'm on the home stretch now. Cut A Rug

Spooky Decorations

To Mompos or Not to Mompos

Well readers, that is the question. So I'm asking for your help. You see, I love this dress but I'm just not sure I love it. I think the material is super pretty and the cut is really cute but I'm still undecided. But I do love how flattering and girly it is! Plus, it's pretty much a spring/summer dress so I'd be storing it away until next Spring. I attempted to style it for Fall, I'm not sure it totally works....

So that is my dilemma. I just don't want to regret not keeping it and then be eBay stalking it and end up paying a lot more for it later. Been there, done that. What to do, what to do?? Here's where you come in, please vote and let me know what you think.

All About FALL

Well, hello there readers! I'm back from Utah and I had such a wonderful time with my family. And I'm proud to say that I completed my 1/2 marathon, yay!!! I was super sore afterwards since the whole race was downhill but I'm really glad that I did it. It felt so good to finally accomplish one of my goals, now bring on the full marathon.....well, maybe in a few years!

Hello readers! So I'm actually in Utah right now spending time with my family. Not only did I come to Utah to visit my family but also to run my very first half marathon tomorrow, and I am nervous! OOTD: Saved by the Maxi Dress

Gotta love maxi dresses for being oh so comfortable and for hiding a little bit of leg hair stubble. Yeah, you caught me, I was too lazy to shave my legs this morning. Gasp! So not only does this dress keep me cool in the heat, keep me comfortable while chasing around my 18 month old daughter, it also hides some unwanted stubble. It pretty much makes my day, enough so that I actually pulled the trigger on another one this morning.

Hello and happy Monday to you! Yesterday I decided to wear two of my favorite colors, mint green and pale pink. I think the colors paired nicely with the black and white polka dots on my Chocolate Chip Dress.

This past weekend hubby and I took our daughter to the zoo and she loved it so much she fell asleep halfway through from all the excitement! Mexican Vacation

So I'm finally getting around to posting pics from my recent cruise to Mexico, it was so much fun! Even though I missed my little Gigi like crazy, it was so nice to have some one-on-one time with husband. And I won't lie, it was really nice to sleep in too. :) So onto the pics....

Hey Little Piggy

I received my Harry Allen Piggy Bank the other day and I love it! I love the modern sleek design and that it is such a unique sculptural piece. I know that this isn't everyone's cup of tea but I'm so glad I finally pulled the trigger on this beauty. Pillow Talk II

My recent move threw a wrench in my pillow-making plans for my couch (if you remember from this post). Now that things have settled down, I've finally chosen my fabric and ordered it last night. I decided to go with a more eclectic look and use four different patterns.

The bottom right fabric is actually a napkin set from Anthropologie. I was in the store a few months back when I spotted it and I instantly loved the color and pattern. When I realized that the napkins were the same measurements as my throw pillows, I thought why not?

Hi readers! I hope you're all having a lovely Thursday. Today I decided to break out a top I got at Anthropologie in 2006. I love the soft floral print and how comfortable it is.

Today I'm on my way to visit family in Utah and I can't wait to see them! So for the next few weeks my posting and commenting will be very limited as I'd like to make sure I spend as much time with them as I can. Of course when I get back I'll be sure to catch up with all of you. ;)

O Christmas Tree

Since my husband and I are still in the middle of a move, this year we decided to go for a SIMPLE Christmas tree. When I saw this David Stark Twig Topiary Tree at West Elm, I immediately fell in love with it. I decorated it with pearl white ornaments, glittery birds and mercury glass pears.

My very own partridge in a pear tree!

I think David Stark is such a talented party planner and designer and I would love to add more of his decorations from west elm to my collection! You can check them all out here.

OOTD: It's Raining, It's Pouring

This past weekend it was raining cats and dogs. All. Day. Long. So I had to break out my new rainboots (which were a gift from my husband when we first moved to Portland, thanks hubby!). I love these boots! Aside from being really adorable, they kept my feet nice and dry while I splashed around in all the puddles. ;)

OOTD: Stripes & Polka Dots

Well readers, you can tell when I love something because I wear it a LOT! Yes, I'm wearing this skirt again but I decided to mix it up a little and throw a print with it. I thought the stripes would be a good counterpoint to the polka dots and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Plus, the sequin detail and my shoes add a little sparkle to the look.

West Elm Christmas Decor

When it comes to Christmas decor, I'm really into white and metallic with accents of the traditional red and green. West Elm has some great decorations this year and the following are at the top of my wishlist.

1. West Elm David Stark Twig Topiary - love this little tree!
2. West Elm Mosaic Spheres - these would look great on a mantle.
3. West Elm Mercury Glass Shape Ornaments - love mercury glass.
4. West Elm Paper Flower Wreath - so pretty!
5. West Elm Novelty Nutcracker - love the all white nutcracker.
6. West Elm Mercury Glass Vases - again, LOVE mercury glass!
7. West Elm Scalloped Trees - these would look great in an entryway.

OOTD: You Say You Want A Revelation

I love The Beatles as much as I love this skirt (and they are now on iTunes, yay)! The Anthropologie Revelations Skirt came out last year and since I was pregnant, I passed it up. Of course I later regretted not getting it. So after months and months of eBay stalking, I finally found one and made it mine! And don't worry, I used a paypal credit to pay for it so I didn't break my shopping ban. I adore this skirt and see so many different styling options that I can't wait to try out! I picked up this cardigan on a whim and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I love the red color and the adorable chiffon bow. And I love how the bow on my cardigan is echoed by the bows on my boots.

And Anthropologie surprised us yesterday with a sale. I was kinda good and stuck to my wishlist and picked up the this and this. I ended up passing on the Eze Sur Mer Top, since the xs was too tight and the small was too loose. The one thing I got that wasn't on my wishlist were some tights ~~and a necklace~~. The tights popped back up in my wishlist and were only $10 so I caved! And the Poms & Trinkets Necklace was just too cute to pass up! I guess it could have been worse, right!?! ;)
ETA: That necklace is now full price, but it was on sale yesterday! Glad I got it when I did.

Eight Is Enough

Hi readers! Just wanted to pop in and let you know we made it to Portland safe and sound! We are in our temporary housing and still need to find a place to live so no ootd's for you just yet. Plus, I'm still getting settled in and trying to get used to this so cold weather. One thing that is making me feel at home is Anthropologie, and it's literally across the street from where we are staying. Oh no, I smell trouble!

Which is why I really need to stay on the wagon and stick to my shopping break. If you remember from this post, I am going on a shopping break until Christmas. So here are my eight items that I'm allowed to get if they go on sale...

1. Anthropologie Oolite Necklace - I'm swooning over the pearls, the gold rose and blush colored beads.
2. Anthropologie Sweeping Stitch Heels - LOVE the color of these and of course the darling bows!
3. Anthropologie Eze Sur Mer Top - Cute little striped tee (I reserve the right to swap this top out since I haven't actually tried it on yet).
4. Anthropologie Frill Force Jacket - I require this jacket, period.
5. Anthropologie Pebbled & Primped Boots - Another cute flat boot and gotta love the ruffle detail!
6. Anthropologie Linked Hasu Tote - This color is perfect year round and the beaded detail makes it special.
7. Anthropologie Volante Tee - I love the color and the detail on the shoulder.
8. Anthropologie White Noise Skirt - This would go with just about everything in my closet.

OOTD: All My Bags Are Packed

Packing day is finally here. This is the first move that we have the moving co. pack everything for us and I must admit it is so nice! Husband and I have been able to enjoy our last few weekends here in LA and visit some places that for some reason or another we never got around to (like the huge flea market at the Rose Bowl). We've also been filling up our weekends eating at our favorite restaurants that are unique to LA. Have I told you how nice it is not to have our weekends consumed with packing?! ;) I know my outfit is simple today, but I wanted to wear something comfortable and this top fits the bill.

And my big exciting news is (drum roll please...)

I am moving to Portland, OR! Husband got a new job there and I'm super excited to once again live in the Pacific Northwest (we used to live in Seattle and loved it). So this Thursday we'll be heading due north and saying goodbye to LA. I am so excited! So my posting and commenting will be a little sporadic until we find a place and get settled in (which may take awhile). I've only been to Portland a few times so if any of you live there or have visited and have any tips or info I'd love to hear from you! One thing I know.... they have an Anthropologie (which makes me a happy girl! ;)

Review: Poetic License Encoure Ankle Boot

I was so excited to get the Encoure Boots in the mail and they finally came. The leather is pretty nice and the snakeskin bow is just darling. But as soon as I got them on my feet and took a step, I felt pain! The stiff leather would dig into my skin and the bottom of my ankle bone. I only had them on for a few minutes but after I took them off the skin just under my ankle bone was all red! If I had to wear these for a few hours I think they would have broken skin and given me a big sore. Sadly, these cute booties will have to go back. For those interested, they run true to size.

The Plaza Cardigan may be one of my all time favorite sweaters from Anthropologie. It is so cozy and so comfy to wear. Today it's a little chilly outside so I paired it with leggings and my favorite boots. Well, I'm off to take Gigi to her monthly doctor's appointment and maybe I'll make a stop at Anthropologie, since it's on the way of course.

I remember the very first time I walked into Anthropologie. You could say it was love at first sight (no need to walk by again). Who knew that it would ignite such an obsession for me! I also remember the very first item I bought and I still love it to this day. When I first saw this skirt I loved the plaid fabric and asymmetrical hem.

Booties With A Bow

I must confess that I just ordered these booties yesterday. I found them here for a great deal (and then had Nordstrom price match them) and I just couldn't resist since I've had my eye on them for months now! I know I posted earlier about the other colorway but in the end I thought black booties would be more versatile for me. I'll do a review for you when they arrive, which is hopefully very soon because I can't wait!

Dining Table Roundup

I've long since needed a new dining table since the one I currently own is a cheapo one from Walmart. It is all scratched up since it has survived six moves in six years. I plan to get rid of it soon and these three tables are at the top of my list.

I am really loving this lace tank I picked up last week at Target for $15. I can already see it going with so much in my closet and it adds a little girliness to my outfits (which I don't mind at all).
